As a semi-normal fantasy setting, you can expect weapons up to and including primitive black powder firearms. Most of the things you encounter will be spears, swords, bows, and magic, but every once in a while, you might see or use a blunderbuss or cannon. If you want to homebrew something from another setting or time, just ask me and we’ll work out what’s appropriate. Your character probably won’t have a laser or Fitbit or anything like that, though.
After using the starting money guidelines to set up your character, we won’t be keeping track of that cash. Instead of accounting for your “walking around money,” we’re going to assume that your characters always have the means to buy a meal, secure humble lodging, and refill their quivers, unless they’re explicitly robbed of their possessions. If you want to make a significant purchase, however, such as buying a new weapon or other type of Gear, we will use Coin, which is the currency you’ll earn from adventuring.
We also won’t worry about Encumbrance unless you guys try to do something insane.
Ammo will be considered unlimited within reason: you can shoot a thousand bullets within a week by fighting normally, but if you want to sit and remove the gunpowder from a thousand bullets to make a bomb, or create an avalanche of arrows, you’re going to have to pay for it with Coin and lug it all from the local shop.
Please note that only armor that covers your torso is taken into the Toughness calculation for normal combat.
We can talk about things like horse-drawn carriages and seafaring vessels if they become relevant.
