Dwarves are short but hardy people who historically have carved their homes from stone, either in yawning caverns or towering mountains. They are a proud, hardened people, due to repetitive hostile contact with peoples such as Orcs and Goblins. Dwarves usually live upwards of 200 years. Dwarvish appearances mirror Humans in many ways, although all Dwarves are stout and grow thick body and facial hair to stay insulated deep within the cold rock.

Traditionally, Dwarves hail from massive, fortified citadels, but their industrious nature has enhanced their success within the cities of Integrated Society, where Dwarves are a very common sight. Architects, mechanics, and metallurgists are often Dwarvish or trained in the Dwarvish traditions, and some of the most impressive feats of engineering are collaborations between Dwarves and Gnomes.

Dwarves are present in most Giftworlds, including:

SWADE Mechanics:

  • LOW LIGHT VISION: Dwarven eyes are accustomed to the deep dark of the underearth. They ignore penalties for Dim and Dark Illumination.
  • PACE: Dwarves have short legs compared to most races. Decrease their Pace by 1 and their running die one die type.
  • TOUGH: Dwarves are stout and tough. They start with a d6 Vigor instead of a d4. This increases maximum Vigor to d12+1.
