Characters are defined by their “Traits,” which are divided into Attributes and Skills. These are ranked by die types, from d4 to d12. A d6 represents average skill, while higher die types reflect much greater ability, which sets you apart from the non-adventurers. Attributes are primarily passive or innate abilities used for resisting effects. Skills are used to actively do things or affect others. Exceptions occur, but these are the foundational differences between the two concepts.
Your character’s Ancestry and Hindrances may affect your starting Traits as well, so this is a good time to revisit the information you’ve previously written on your sheet.
Character Sheet Hints
You will probably want to mark the dice types and Skills with their linked Attributes on your character sheets like this:
You will also want to add the linked Attribute for each Skill, as seen in “Athletics (Agility).” This will help you to understand the relationship between each Skill and its parent Attribute.
The lines between the dice and Trait names are used to write bonuses, such as +1 or -2, not the die type.
Attributes
Skills
The core Skills are also linked to an Attribute as well! Check the red-starred core Skills in the “Summary of Skills” below to see what these linked Attributes are.
Some Skills, like Hacking for example, may not fit the setting of our campaign, and therefore could be ignored - but if you’re interested in reworking the meaning of anything, just ask and we’ll figure out how to make it work for you!
